The Smart Pooling® concept immediately reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from public swimming pools and aquatic centres

Gas is the most common energy source used in communal pools, as well as electricity, which also produces CO2. Sunny Shark's Smart Pooling® saves up to 30% of energy consumption during off-peak periods and up to 20% over the course of a day, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

A swimming pool in Strasbourg avoids 44 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year thanks to Smart Pooling®.

This is a classic site that we propose here as an example: a swimming pool comprising a sports pool, a leisure pool and a paddling pool.
  • Electrical consumption of the heat pump: 276,040 kWh/year, equivalent to 16.5 tonnes of CO2e* issued per year before Smart Pooling.
  • Natural gas consumption for boilers: 91,680 m3 per year, equivalent to 201.5 tonnes of CO2e* issued per year before Smart Pooling.
The implementation of Smart Pooling has resulted in a reduction in energy consumption of 20%. Automatic switching of the choice of energies used allows a savings in energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Of the 218 tCO2e/year issued previously, the Smart Pooling from Sunny Shark reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 44 tonnesemissions, bringing them down to 174 tCO2e/year.
* Energy emissions in France according to ADEME (2020): 0.0599 kgCO2e/kWh for the average electricity mix and 2.2 kgCO2e/m3 for natural gas.
